5 Tips for Trying to Conceive

So you are thinking now is the time to start trying to have a baby or perhaps you have been trying for a while now, unsuccessfully. What can you do to help make a healthy home for that perfect blessing (or two if you have twins like me) to inhabit for 9 months? Below are 5 tips that will help put yourself in a good, healthy state for conceiving.

Adopt a Regular Exercise Routine

You may be trying to lose weight to conceive or just to get into a healthier mindset. The key is to stick to a schedule. Whether it is two days a week or every other week day, make it a habit and it will be easier to maintain through pregnancy. When you are pregnant your center of gravity shifts due to growth of your breasts and belly. This can cause strain on other areas of your body. Strengthening your abdominal and back muscles before pregnancy will leave you less likely to have back pain later on.

Eat your Fruits and Vegetables

A diet of fruits and vegetables helps to improve egg quality. Watermelon, asparagus, in addition to other raw fruits and vegetable, give the body a rich supply of glutathione which is important for egg quality. In the warm weather months, there is no shortage of great produce, waiting to be eaten.

Strengthen your Core

When you are pregnant your center of gravity shifts due to growth of your breasts and belly. This can cause strain on other areas of your body. Strengthening your abdominal and back muscles before pregnancy will leave you less likely to have back pain later on.

Avoid All Trans Fats

Avoid all trans fats and instead eat more healthy unsaturated fats. Trans fats are found in foods like commercial baked goods and snack foods, animal products, french fries and margarines. These types of fats increase your insulin resistance. High insulin levels cause a lot of metabolic disturbances that could affect ovulation. Avocados, olives, nuts and seeds are all healthy unsaturated fats.

Keep it Interesting

Swim laps, work out with your partner, join a yoga class, go for a bike ride, or contact AndreaLaurenFitness.com for info on at home workout programs to follow.

The key to sticking to a routine is to keep it interesting. Find out which form of exercise captures your passion and go with it. It will set you up for success.

There is no magical way to conceive a child. But remember the trying part is supposed to be fun and try not to stress out. All you can do is keep your body healthy and moving and know it will happen in God’s perfect timing.
